If you are looking for a great skincare routine for dry skin, you have come to the right place.
Have you ever heard of skin types?
Skin type is a term used to classify the condition of the skin based on the ability to synthesize, retain and absorb moisture. It is determined by the level of sebum secretion, which is not enough or too much. To be classified, two characteristics must be taken into consideration: skin temperature and skin humidity. The four main skin types are:
Normal skin
Oily skin
Dry skin
Sensitive skin
This skin type is a mixture of a few of the preceding skin types. The combination of a few different skin types is what causes sensitive skin.
Dry skin or atrophic skin
Dry skin has an overabundance of sebum, which is a protective and insulating oil that attracts dust, bacteria, and allergens, and protects against dehydration. However, it absorbs moisture more slowly and is not oily, which makes it an ideal candidate for exfoliation. People with dry skin type, as with other skin types, need to follow a good moisturizing routine to keep their skin in good shape.
If your skin type is normal, then your skin type is normal. Normal skin does not require a ton of beauty products, but if you do have a skin type that needs to be nourished, then what type of treatment are you looking for? The 5 step skincare routine for dry skin we recommend are the following:
Step 1
Moisturize skincare routine for dry skin
There are three basic elements of skincare: cleaning, protection, and moisturizing. The best thing to do is cleanse your skin once or twice a day, even before you shower. Cleansing your skin thoroughly and using a cleanser that is best for your skin type will keep your skin clean, moisturized and hydrated. Make sure you exfoliate once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and give the skin a fresh, new appearance.
When your skin needs a little extra help, a good moisturizer is a way to go. A good moisturizer works to add moisture back into your skin, which will make it look good in the long run. Look for moisturizers that are hypoallergenic and best for your skin. When in doubt, check the ingredients in your moisturizer. This is best done before applying.
Step 2
Protect
It’s the little things that make a big difference. Just like you apply sunscreen on a daily basis, applying an SPF lotion on your face is a must. If you do not apply SPF on a daily basis, your skin will be more prone to the sun and to UV rays, which are harmful for the skin. A good SPF is vital, especially if you are outdoors or spend time in the sun. SPF lotion should be used twice a day, preferably after your moisturizer and before your nighttime lotion. Use a light, sensitive, oil-free lotion when going out in the sun. Also, you can buy a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer in SPF 30.
Moisturizing, cleansing, and sunscreen have all contributed to making the SPF on your skin a must.
Step 3
Exfoliate
You can exfoliate as much as you want, as it will help to remove those dead cells and give you a fresh and clean look. Your skin might also feel softer because you are removing those dead cells. Try using a scrub and massage to remove dead cells. Using exfoliators with a brush or a massager will help remove dead skin cells, making your skin look brighter and fresher. Do not scrub so hard that it will take off all of the natural oil your skin has, as you may end up looking shiny. You can also buy some scrubs to remove dead skin cells. If you have dry skin, try some products that are good for dry skin, such as face scrubs and face peels. If your skin is very dry, use exfoliators with glycolic acids and BHA (Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids).
Step 4
Treat
Apply a night cream to your face and moisturize as well. You should be using sunscreen before bedtime to protect your skin. If you are going to sleep, then put on some products to moisturize your skin before you go to bed. For a daytime moisturizer, you can use a lightweight moisturizer. Make sure you do not use a heavy moisturizer before you sleep because it will weigh your face down and make your skin look dead. In the morning, apply a light moisturizer for your daytime moisturizer.
Do not use a very heavy moisturizer because you will wake up with dry skin in the morning, or you will look greasy.
Step 5
Moisturize
Your body uses both moisture and heat to function, but what your skin needs to do is to keep moisture in your skin and have the ability to maintain a skin temperature of about 32 degrees. You need to moisturize your skin when your skin feels a little hot, especially when you are getting out of the shower. You can use a moisturizer that will hold heat or a heavy moisturizer. It is okay to use heavy moisturizers if your skin is very dry. You should make sure that your moisturizer is not too thick or heavy. Once your skin is moisturized, you can apply your regular moisturizer.
