New York has always been a home to the fashion industry. NYFW is of the four major fashion events of the year known as The Big 4. With the others in Paris, London, and Milan. The list of designers that will showcase their glamorous collections consisted of names like Tom Ford, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Tory Burch, Anna Sui, Duncan, Coach, and many other new names.
Major Concern
Everything is ready for the show to go on floors in February. However, just one thing that is a significant concern for everyone around. It is the latest Omicron variant of the Covid. Currently, we are facing a new challenge these days. It jeopardizes whether the show will take place in person or digitally. Anyhow, The CFDA has promised to follow all the safety protocols. The guidelines remain to be fully vaccinated, wearing masks, and limited guests list for the show if being held in person.
Statement by Mr.Steven Kolb – Chief Executive of CFDA
To address this issue, in an interview with Vogue, the chief executive of CFDA, Steven Kolb, stated, “The American fashion industry has shown great resilience during this difficult time. As the Omicron variant continues to present challenges at every level, I am looking forward to seeing how designers continue to present their collections in creative, innovative ways with an eye to the safety of all fashion week stakeholders.”
Kolb also said, “We will be following the COVID protocols that were instated in September that call for mandatory vaccination, mask-wearing indoors, and scaling back the size of audiences. We continue to be in contact with local and state health officials as we monitor the Omicron variant.”
Steven Kolb also encouraged the emerging and young talents we all are looking forward to. He stated, “There is a lot of great new talent on the schedule. It includes Dauphinette, Judy Turner, Loring, Luchen, Melke, PatBO, Saint Sintra, and Zankov,”
Moreover, a small section of the brands may present their collections digitally on the fashion calendar. It includes names such as Adam Lippes, Theophilio, Sandy Liang, and a few others.
Now we can hope and pray that situations around the world become stable. Therefore, we can witness our most anticipated event of the year in person in its full glam and glory.
