The Met Gala, which took place on the 13th of September 2021, is an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It is a highly anticipated event that attracts the likes of some of the hottest stars in Hollywood. This year’s theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” and it really stimulated the creativity of the elites invited. This year’s costumes were strange yet artistic and unexpected but beautiful. Here are my favorite 2021 Met Gala looks.
Firstly, Kendall Jenner’s Givenchy gown was absolutely stunning. I love the attention to detail and the beautiful design. Undoubtedly, the 2021 Met Gala looks were off to a great start.
Of course, Kim Kardashian’s look was very eccentric. She wore a black ensemble designed by Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga. It covered her entire face, head, and body. I think the uniqueness of it all just blew people away!
Notwithstanding, Gemma Chan paid homage to the first Chinese-American film star, Anna May Wong. She wore a beautiful black mini dress, with silver sequins on the front and a light green addition on the back. To me, the silver sequin arrangement resembled that of the Chinese dragon symbol. Very chic!
In contrast, Megan Fox burnt the house down with a bold red dress. Very stunning!
Contrastingly, Barbie Ferreira went for a calmer, vintage look, a pearl-embellished dress by Jonathan Simkhai. Absolutely, gorgeous!
Next, Naomi Osaka’s dress just screamed “culture”. Absolutely gorgeous, colorful, and diverse!
Storm Reid’s dress comprised many hints of pink and red. Who knew those colors would match so well? This Prada bustier is also one of my favorites.
There’s only one word that can describe this stunning ensemble and that’s….. impressive! Iman along with emerging designer Harris Reed created this remarkable design.
Sisters Chloe and Halle rocked a stunning ensemble that suits them so perfectly. Chloe’s dress was classic while Halle’s was chic. Both looks were designed by another sister duo: Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte.
Gabrielle Union’s gown was so innovative and fascinating. This dress was designed by Iris Van Herpen.
Mary J. Blige kept it simple but glittery in this graceful dress by Dundas.
I just had to include this fascinating ensemble worn by Lili Reinhart. The design, by Christian Siriano, featured the official flower of each of the American states.
