Everyone deserves to have gorgeous, clear skin. Luckily, there are various skin treatments available that can help you achieve this goal in no time. Whether you have acne or simply want to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, here are some of the best treatments you can use to get flawless skin treatment!
1) Microdermabrasion
A popular treatment for all skin types, microdermabrasion involves using small crystals and a vacuum-like wand that is pressed against your face. The crystals remove dead skin cells from the top layers of the skin, revealing brighter skin beneath. Because it does not use chemicals or lasers, it is considered one of the most gentle ways to exfoliate your face. (A consultation with a dermatologist is recommended prior to having microdermabrasion performed.) This can help reduce wrinkles and other signs of aging, but remember that it won’t erase them completely. Results should be noticeable immediately after treatment and will last anywhere from two weeks to three months before needing a follow-up appointment.
2) Chemical Peels Skin Treatment
A chemical peel is a treatment that uses one or more chemicals applied to your skin. It may have a rejuvenating effect, exfoliating and shedding dead cells from your skin. Chemical peels are generally used on damaged skin or areas with uneven pigmentation as they fade scarring and discoloration. The peel solution may also be used to improve acne scarring, melasma (brown pigmentation of the skin), and fine lines by removing damaged layers of skin while stimulating new cell growth. This can reverse signs of aging and give you smoother, clearer, healthier-looking skin.
3) Laser Hair Removal
If you want clear skin and a fresh, new look that lasts, laser hair removal is an excellent treatment option. For men and women, permanent hair reduction is a safer alternative to waxing or shaving. Although laser treatments aren’t designed for use on every area of your body, they can be used successfully on areas where excess facial or body hair may be bothersome (arms, chest, stomach, etc.). All unwanted hair has been removed within days of treatment. Results will last much longer than razors or waxing can provide. 4) Waxing/Threading
Both waxing and threading are good for shaping eyebrows, but be careful with ingrown hairs: Over-waxed eyebrows are easy to get, so go slowly and make sure you know what your brow technician is doing at all times. You can also get clear skin treatment from professionals who offer laser treatments. Lasers do not harm your skin, but target oil glands under its surface; a three-to six-month course of treatments may be needed for best results. During that time, many find their acne clears up as well—making laser treatment an acne cure in addition to a clear skin treatment method. Do note that some doctors require patients taking blood thinners not to receive laser treatment because of an increased risk of bleeding.
5) Facials
Treatments like microdermabrasion, oxygen facials, and at-home skin peels can leave your skin feeling silky smooth. Microdermabrasion treatments use light abrasion with crystals or fine exfoliating tools to polish away built-up dead skin cells. These treatments are meant to be done once or twice a month (depending on what type of products you’re using), but even an occasional facial can do wonders for your skin. In fact, experts believe that two to three facials a year are more beneficial than daily applications of any type of cream. When it comes time for a facial, choose someone with experience—and keep in mind that only trained professionals should administer dermal fillers and Botox injections.
6) Exfoliants
Do you know why people are so obsessed with exfoliants? Because they work. People who have been using exfoliants for years swear by them because they’ve witnessed clear, flawless skin firsthand. When your skin is constantly shedding dead cells and surrounded by oil, it makes sense that an exfoliant would help make a difference—it helps fight oil buildup and clears out dead cells, allowing healthier skin to surface through. But don’t think you have to spend an arm and a leg on professional products like chemical peels and microdermabrasion kits; homemade ones can do just as good of a job (if not better!) depending on what ingredients you choose.
7) Moisturizers
One of our favorite lines is Dr. Dandelion’s Natural Deodorant. This all-natural product comes in a stick that you simply smooth on your underarms once or twice a day, as needed. The formula contains a variety of natural ingredients and smells quite nice (lavender and grapefruit). You don’t need to refrigerate it before use; just apply it as needed whenever you feel sweaty. (You can even apply it during work if you’re wearing short sleeves.) It leaves behind no residue or stains on clothing, which can be an issue with natural deodorants. Some are concerned about chemicals, but when compared to what we use in personal care products every day, Dr. Dandelion’s is mild enough for most people with sensitive skin.
8) Sun Protection Products
One of the easiest ways to prevent clear skin treatment is through sun protection products. Don’t skip them if you plan on being outside for an extended period—even when it’s cloudy, as UV rays can sneak through. Look for a product with both chemical and physical sunscreens, such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Products that contain sunscreen are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, so look for broad-spectrum SPF 30 on any skincare products containing sunscreen. And remember: It takes 20 minutes for your skin to absorb enough sunscreen to be protected from burning, so don’t wait until you see a few rays poking through before applying!
9) Anti-Aging Treatments
No matter how old you are, there’s always room for anti-aging treatments. As you age, your skin begins to lose collagen and elasticity, so your beauty routine should include options that help boost collagen production and smooth lines. From home remedies like honey and turmeric masks to doctor-administered procedures like Botox or Kybella therapy; check out some of our favorite ways in our guide on how to get flawless skin treatment.
10) Treatments for Acne
The great news is that when it comes to acne treatment, you have more options than ever before. Most people get their first taste of treatment in junior high or high school. Back then, you likely used a topical medication or product that likely contained some combination of salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide (BP). The former helps peel away dead skin cells while the latter kills acne-causing bacteria—all good things, right? Well, actually, no. Benzoyl peroxide can be harsh on your skin if used long-term and BP tends to dry out your skin over time. Even if it doesn’t cause blemishes or irritation at first, using BP too regularly can really damage your overall complexion over time.
