The most anticipated event of the year is here and we have all our eyes on the celebrity outfits. While some celebrities ruled the red carpet, others were not so impressive. This year was all about serving looks and owning the outfits. From different styles to colors and makeup looks, we got a lot of fashion hits this year.
Who was best-dressed at the Oscars 2023?
The answer to this million-dollar question is quite complicated. Even though we can’t declare someone as the best dressed, in my opinion, Rihanna ruled the red carpet, her black dress, red lips, and cute baby bump a vision to watch. Apart from that, Lady Gaga and Kate Hudson also looked ravishing in black dresses. Let’s discuss what our favorite celebrities wore and whether we like them or not.
Looks That Were A Hit For Us:
1 – Rihanna Dressed In Alaia:
As I said, queen RiRi never fails to impress us and she has done it again. By ditching the glamorous looks and fancy gowns, she opted for the sheer body-hugging black gown. The gown had a leather bralette with cutout straps and a low-rise fitted leather skirt with a floor-sweeping tail at the back.
She went for minimal jewels including statement drop earrings and statement rings as well. Moreover, the makeup was done subtly with black Smokey eyes and red bold lips, perfectly complementing her entire look. She didn’t shy away from flaunting her baby bump and looked stunning. Hence, it is safe to say that Rihanna slayed this look and we love her pregnancy glow.
2 – Lady Gaga In Versace:
We have another diva donning an all-black ensemble and honestly, we love it! Lady Gaga’s Oscar look included sheer full sleeves with a corset body and a full-length skirt. Other stunning details included an embellished belt around the hips. Not only this, she opted for a stunning diamond necklace and jewels as well.
Miss Gaga went for heavy makeup with black Smokey eyes and red lips. The surprising thing is that she went for a totally opposite look for her performance in a black t-shirt, ripped jeans, and converse shoes with a no-makeup look. Overall all of her looks were a total hit for us and we loved them.
3 – Michelle Yeoh in Dior Haute Couture:
After the black looks, white also deserves some of our attention. Michelle Yeoh wore this breathtaking gown to the Oscars and looked like a literal fairy. The gown is hand-made from Dior featuring layers of feathers and lots of volume. Diamond jewels, beachy waves in her hair, and nude makeup are all the things that made her look like a vision in white. Her dress is also perfect for bridal wear, so for all the brides-to-be, please take some notes.
4 – Cate Blanchett in Louis Vuitton
She slayed in a graceful blue velvet gown on the carpet. The outfit featured a teal top with a navy long skirt and a long sweeping tail. She also added cute earrings and rings to her overall look. Cate looked naturally beautiful in this minimal look and this is also a hit look for us.
5 – Cara Delevingne in Elie Saab:
The spicy red dramatic gown is everyone’s favorite and honestly, it looked stunning. Cara knows how to slay as she wore this gown with a statement shoulder rosette and high thigh slit. Other things enhancing her look included the stunning diamond choker, earrings, and bracelet. She also wore satin platform pumps in matching colors. With a cat-eye look and muted lips, we conclude that we love this red-hot look.
Looks That Were A Miss For Us
6 – Florence Pugh in Valentino
Even though she looked stunning but the dress just didn’t do justice to her. She opted for a voluminous couture gown with an open front and ruffled sleeves. She paired the gown with biker shorts which looks quite cool. But overall, the color, styling, and outfit choice are not up to the mark which is why this look is a miss for us.
7 – Nicole Kidman in Armani:
Although we love high slits this one just doesn’t look flattering on her. Nicole opted for a black sequin and one-shoulder gown with 3D matching roses. She paired black pumps with her look. In conclusion, the outfit was not an extraordinary one and might be good for an after-party but not the red carpet.
8 – Angela Bassett in Moschino
We would give full points for the cute violet color, but the gown: not so impressed! The exaggerated neckline and sweeping silhouette are not complementing the look perfectly. She paired it with a silver necklace and disco ball bag. Overall, her look is, unfortunately, a miss for us but there’s no denying that Angela is a stunner and can look good in everything.
Summing Up:
As we categorize them as a hit or miss, doesn’t mean that any of them looked bad, it’s just that their outfit choices could’ve been more appropriate. Overall, we enjoyed reviewing all the looks and now we are waiting for your feedback. Share your most favorite and least favorite looks with us.
