Harnaaz Sandhu – Miss Universe 2021 Winner

Harnaaz Sandhu of India is the new Miss Universe, 21 years after Lara Dutta of India was crowned Miss Universe in 2000.

Ms. Sandhu represented India today in Eilat, Israel, at the 70th Miss Universe 2021 pageant.

The 21-year-old from Punjab won the competition, beating out Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa.

Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, presented Ms. Sandhu with the crown. Only two Indians have won the Miss Universe title before the Chandigarh-based model: actresses Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.

When asked what advice she would offer to young women dealing with the pressures they encounter, Ms. Sandhu responded calmly, “The most significant strain on today’s youth is to believe in oneself, to understand that they are unique and that this is what makes them attractive.

Stop comparing yourself to others and instead focus on the more pressing issues that are affecting the globe.”

Ms. Sandhu, who began her pageant career at the age of 17, had previously won Miss Diva 2021, Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, and even finished in the Top 12 at Femina Miss India 2019.
