The fashion industry is a global machine, generating a huge amount of revenue and employment. So if you want to join and have interest in the fashion industry, then you need to know the annual calendar of fashion weeks.
The fashion industry is based around seasonal requirements and addresses this by having spring/summer(s/s) and fall/winter (F/W) collections. The main annual fashion events are list below.
Ready to Wear(RTW)
Both women’s and men’s RTW collections are schedule twice a year. Designers show their women collections on the catwalk every six months during the big four fashion weeks, hosted in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Each fashion week lasts approximately a month. Alongside the official schedule ( on schedule) collections of the luxury brand designers at the fashion weeks, there are off-schedule events organized by privately funded groups to independently showcase catwalk shows by young deserving. This provides a platform for some of the most exciting cut-edge fashion talents.
Resort(cruise) and Pre-fall collections
On the contrary, these collections are carry on once a year and they are more commercial than the main collection. Resort and pre-fall collections originally were for wealthy customers who would jet off to warmer climes in cooler months and ski resorts early in the year. There is no schedule or location for the resort shows, but they are usually carry in summer and between the two main catwalk seasons. Pre-fall collections are schedule in December/January.

Haute couture
Haute couture is a designer’s one-off pieces to sell at astronomical prices to the super-wealthy. They use no sewing machine in these garments; they are all sew together by hand by expert seamstresses and lots of hours of work are put into each outfit. Held in Paris, Singapore, and Seoul. Unlike ready-to-wear, Haute couture collection follows the actual yearly season. Haute couture is not purchase in store but rather sell in atelier basically by appointment.

Conclusion
Fashion week shows are only for buyers and the press. If you are interested to get into the show you need to directly contact the PR and the designers through their website (www.fashioncalender.com). Always look for the outfit that best suits your style and be your own muse.
