———————————————————————————————-
Started on late January 25, 1964.
A shoe company was founded. After 45 years, its first financial report said, it was sold 100M dollars worth of inventory every single day!
That is almost 9.1B dollars for the year 2016.
So how do you think a shoe company, in only 45 years became a founding force of influence and fame over many generations until now?
The story is based on fundamental human beliefs, and the protagonist is you.
It depicts your day-to-day conflict with – well yourself.
However, you are not the only character in your own story. It is all about your heroes, your ultimate happiness, and the nagging problem that’s getting in the way of your happiness.
The Nike brand meticulously created a biography about you, featuring your idols, the people you want to be in your fantasy. It is understated.
The company doesn’t even show you the sneaker since it’s that Inconspicuous. Michael Jordan, known as the greatest basketball player in history, is the person you see.
As we have mentioned in the first part of this story, the company was first founded in 1964, as the Blue Ribbon Sports by Bill Bowerman which is a track and field coach at the University of Oregon, and his former student Phil Knight opened their first retail outlet in 1966 and launched the Nike brand shoe in 1972.
Renaming of the shoe company
In 1978, the firm was renamed as NIKE.Inc., and two years later, it became public.
Nike had retail outlets and distributors in over 170 countries by the early twenty-first century and their logo which is a curved checkmark known as the Swoosh was instantly recognized around the world.
Nike steadily expanded its business and diversified its product line beginning in the late 1980s, acquiring companies such as Cole Haan(1988, sold in 2012) and Converse.Inc(2003), sports equipment manufacturer Canstar Sports Inc.(1944; later called Bauer and sold in 2008), and athletic apparel and equipment company Umbro (2008, sold in 2012).
Nike ACG (“All Conditions Gear”) was founded in 1996 to advertise equipment for extreme sports including Snowboarding and mountain biking.
Nike began marketing sports technology peripherals in the early twenty-first century, such as portable heart-rate monitors and high-altitude wrist compasses.
Michael Jordan, Mia Hamm, Roger Federer, and Tiger Woods are just a few of the athletes who have endorsed Nike.
The NikeTown chain of stores, the first of which opened in 1990, pays homage to these and other business spokespeople while also providing customers with a complete line of Nike merchandise.
Revelations concerning bad working conditions in the company’s overseas factories tarnished the company’s image briefly in the 1990s.
