Have you watched The Bold Type yet? If not, well this is your sign to head over to Netflix and binge-watch it. The bold type is actually inspired by the life and career of former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine. The story is about the three best friends who are empowered and confident women who fight for what they think is right. But hold on there ladies and gentlemen! We will not talk about the movie itself, but we will talk about Kat Edison (Aisha Dee), Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy), and Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens) fashion and style in the movie.
Well, these three ladies have different characters and they are actually a good example of how a woman should be. Empowered, confident, resilient, strong, caring, proud, and not afraid to stand up for what they believed in. That’s the few characteristics these three ladies show in the movie by wearing their cute, stylish, and fashionable outfits.
Let’s start with Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens). Most of the outfits she wore in this series are actually conservative, classy, and very writer kind of style. Well, I guess it’s because of her character in the series; but what I like about her fashion is that even though she’s the smallest in their group (tiny Jane), she always slays and glows with her classic outfit. Not to mention that her character has a breast tumor and during that part in the series she wore an outfit that will cover her breast but dang! She really is tiny Jane who can turn simple outfits into classy ones.
Next one, Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy). Her character is a Fashion stylist and it’s very obvious from her outfits that she has taste when it comes to fashion. Stylish, on point, a perfect match of clothing color, casual, and very Sutton Brady. If you watched the series you will know what am I talking about. Whenever her friends need a fashion makeover, Sutton is the one who helped them. I guess she’s the best when it comes to fashion critique.
The last one is Kat Edison (Aisha Dee). I love her style too and I love how strong her character was. Feminine, confident, and very powerful. Kat Edison is proof that whatever and whoever you are you have the power to speak up about what’s on your mind and what you are capable of because in this world, we are free to express what we feel, regardless of the judgments of others and her fashion and style says it all.
I like the idea of how the series showcase different character, different personality, different fashion style, and different aura but they only have one fighting spirit a woman should have. For me, The Bold type series taught us a lesson about family and friendship and how we should deal with problems with other people and deal with our own insecurities. Because a woman should be tough, courageous, and confident; and the outfit and fashion will be our best friend to conquer the unfair reality of life.
