PAKISTANI CULTURE AND THEIR PROVINCIAL DRESSES:
Every country has its own culture and traditions which vary in different parts of the country. The culture of any country means the beliefs, arts, laws, and habits of the individuals who make up the society. The dress and fashion of any country reflect the belief and traditions of their country. Pakistani culture is a rich blend of colors and patterns as vary in different provinces. Each province has its own clothing, food, language, and culture. Pakistan has 4 provinces and all of them have their own dresses according to their own cultural values and beliefs. They all are very colorful and different from each other in their own way. Pakistan is a country where you can find different kinds of races, skin colors,s and types of languages but all of them are connected to the roots of Pakistani history.
Today in this blog I will tell you about the dress of each province of Pakistan and their cultural essence which is different from each other. Let’s go.
1. SINDHI CULTURE AND DRESS
Sindh is the first province of Pakistan and is the richest in culture. In Sindhi culture, men mostly wear shalwar kameez and women’s they are mostly seen in ghagra choli or maxi-style frocks. Menswear is mostly in ajrak prints or they wear an ajrak piece with it separately. Ajrak is a type of block printing that is mostly found in Sindh. It is the symbol of Sindhi culture and is very close to their values for them.
2. BALOCHI CULTURE AND DRESS
Baluchistan is the biggest province of Pakistan but it has the lowest population among all. Their culture is the same up till now and people of Balochi culture are very connected to their roots and do not really wants to add modernism to it. The menswear of Balochi culture is a short kameez with wide loose shalwar. They all carry a headpiece with them which is called Turban. The female dress is mostly the long dress with the loose fitting with mirror and hand embroidery all over. They also take big chaddar to cover themselves from head to shoulder.
3. PASHTUN CULTURE AND DRESS
Pashtun culture is found in the KPK province which is the northern area of Pakistan. They have many tribes within them but all of them are mostly the same when comes to dresses and traditions. In Pashtun culture, men wear shalwar kameez but with was at which is in warm fabric as they belong to cold areas. Female dresses are also not so revealing and they wear long loosely fitted gowns that are ankle length and sleeves are mostly fully gathered at the upper side and tightly around the wrist. They also wear headpieces which are silver jewelry with colorful stones.
4. PUNJABI CULTURE AND DRESS
Punjabi is the most populated province of Pakistan and within this province, you will find a variety of tribes and races. In Punjab, men wear simple shalwar kameez. But Punjabi suit is also popular that as dhoti and kameez. Women wear patiyala shalwar with short kameez. A popular accessory such as paranda can be seen in every other women’s hair that they used to tie their strands. Punjab is well known for its phulkari embroidery.
The culture of Pakistan is a blend of Indian, Persian, and Central Asian influences as the geography and history of this country connect to them.
