The Best Dresses Of Autumn
A collaboration with the British Museum, the new pieces celebrate 18th-century artists. Warehouse x British museum collection High street brand Warehouse has teamed up with The British Museum to create a limited edition collection in celebration of Mary Delany, an 18th-century English artist. While it may sound like an unlikely pairing, the results suggest this is actually a match made in heaven.

Known for her paper mosaics, Delany’s collages were beautiful imitations of flowers and plants, thus floral motifs are front and centre of this new collection. There are embroidered blooms on moody midis, printed jumpers and even glossy vinyl leather pieces.
But it’s the best dresses which really stand out. Despite the fact that autumn has only just begun, already these are some of the best frocks on the high street this season, thanks to the attention to detail on each one. A puff-shoulder style, for example, features pretty jewelled buttons down the back and on each sleeve, while embroideries are as delicate as they are intricate.

Despite this, prices remain under £150 and are even lower at the moment as the brand is running a sale, meaning some of the dresses are under £40. Today saw the launch of the first drop and the rest of the collection will go on sale next week.
In a statement, The British Museum said: ‘It is a joy to see the botanical artwork of Mary Delany interpreted and applied to contemporary fashion. Housing the national collection of prints and drawings, The British Museum is excited to share a part of its collection in this way.’
