Hopefully, these styles will inspire you to braid your hair in new ways this fall and winter!
1) The Fishtail Braid
The fishtail braid is a style that can be worn up or down and generally looks best on longer hair. The fishtail braid is created by taking two sections, one at a time, and crossing them over each other in opposite directions. Next, take the left section over the right and vice versa.
2) The Waterfall Braid
The waterfall braid is a classic style that has been popular for decades. It’s easy to make and looks great on any hair type. Start by parting your hair in two sections, then take a small section from one side and wrap it around to the other side, crossing over the first strand. Take another small section from this side and cross it over again, continuing until you reach your ends. Tie off with an elastic band or clear elastics and voila! You have a waterfall braid!
3) The Dutch Braid
The Dutch braid may seem intimidating at first, but it’s one of the most popular braids out there. Originating in Holland, this braid is achieved by sectioning hair into three sections and crossing them over each other. It’s a simple braid that offers great style and versatility.
4) The French Braid
1. Pull your hair back into a ponytail at the top of your head and secure it with an elastic band. 2. Take a section from either side of your head and bring it over the middle, crossing them in front of one another. 3. Bring each strand behind the other and loop them up over both strands before pulling them tight to create a braid-like effect. 4.
5) Themilkbraid
Braiding hair is a staple in many African-American households, and it’s a great way to get your hair out of your face. With so many different styles and variations, there’s something for everyone. You may want to start with one you’re already familiar with or choose something new that you’ve never tried before.
