10 Signs you’re a Lipstick Hoarder!

I’m not buying another tube of lipstick until I finish the ones I have.. said no girl( or boy) ever! Lipsticks have the power to make every woman feel beautiful. It also has a connection to the economy( See: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/economy/indicators/our-lipstick-obsession-says-a-lot-about-the-economy/articleshow/94194562.cms?from=mdr) and we are not surprised.

Hoarding might be a symptom of the internet and consumerism is at an all-time high thanks to it.

I started wearing makeup in my 30s. I always loved art and painting, so makeup was all about artistic expression initially. However, once I started there was no going back. I slowly realized that I was turning into a lipstick hoarder. Here are some of the signs and thoughts that indicate that you are part of this gang.

1. Most of your lipsticks are expired and you refuse to throw them away

Be honest. Do you even know when you bought them? If you haven’t used them this month( or for a year), do you really need them? If your answer is yes, then welcome to the club. You’re an official member. Come in, we don’t judge you. We live in denial ourselves.

2. You can’t stop watching shade swatch videos.

Content creators have to endure burning lips to give their demanding audience what they want. Thereby making online shopping less intimidating. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you!

3. You need a color for daily wear, but you don’t want to wear the same thing every day.

Enter nude lipsticks. There are pinky nudes, nude nudes, and everything that goes with nude. Send nudes, we can’t get enough of them. I blame Kim Kardashian.

4. You need a shade for every season.

You’re never wearing that siren red color but you need to have it.  You want to have every berry-toned color, but you’re not going to wear them till next Christmas.

5. You want to try that new formulation.

Liquid, crayon, cream, matte, velvety matte….. you might think I’m having a stroke. I shouldn’t be aware of lipstick formulations. I don’t make them. Neither am I in the business of makeup formulations. But the internet wants me to know the difference, and hence I need to get it right.

6. You realize liquid lipsticks have better-staying power, so you should invest in them more. (Sorry bullets)

After owning every cult bullet lipstick available, you come to the realization that they don’t last long. And “reapplication” doesn’t happen as often in our busy world. Liquid lipsticks are here to save the day. So you get very shade as possible.

7. But your lips look fuller with the bullet lipstick. Must have more

Content creators pushing us to buy bullets again. Because they make your lips look fuller. When are they going to make up their mind seriously? My wallet needs a content creator that cares about it

8. Matte is always in fashion.

Matte is here to stay .. Must invest in mattes. Now everything I buy is matte. Nailpolish, clothes, my car!

9. Wait, now gloss is in?

I can’t with this one. Not jumping on this bandwagon. Nope…

10. Everyone’s buying that nude Charlotte Tillbury lipstick.

I have 100 shades that look exactly like it.

But that iconic golden tube *swoon*… guess what’s going in my cart now?

As a reformed hoarder, all I have to say is this, Stuff doesn’t make you happy. You get jaded eventually. One has to be smarter and make better investments when it comes to self-care.
